Hal Rammel

Hal Rammel has been designing and building one-of-a-kind musical instruments since the mid 1970s and his work as an improviser and composer focuses on these unique sound sources. He first developed the amplified palette in 1991 when he performed frequently with cellist Russell Thorne in Chicago. He has produced many variations on the palette and, most recently, recorded the solo amplified palette CDs Midwest Disquiet and Agog. In addition to his long standing duo with Matt Turner, he regularly performs in the duos Scrawl (with guitarist Christopher Burns) and PaVda with violinist Linda Binder.
