Stefania Ladisa

Stefania Ladisa is a violinist, composer and economist born in Bari in 1973. After completing her classical studies at the Conservatory and obtaining her violin diploma, Stefania began to combine her collaborations in orchestras and small classical music ensembles with an intense activity not only as a violinist but also as an arranger, composer and improviser, in folk music groups (Irish and French in particular), klezmer music, progressive and post-progressive rock, jazz, radical improvisation and avant-garde, of which she is the founder or co-founder. Her incredible versatility and immediacy of interpretation, combined with her compositional skills (both written and extemporaneous) allow her to play in any type of musical context. She wins a scholarship with which she acquires the professional qualification of "musician with applied informatic skills". She deepened her study of improvisation by obtaining the Master's degree "Jazz and new musical languages. Improvisation vs Composition" and subsequently joined the "Astragalo" collective at the Jazz Academy of Siena. She graduated in Economics with a thesis entitled: "North/South of the World: a gap that can be bridged?" Stefania combines her many artistic collaborations with constant personal research. She creates new scores and ways of interpreting them, including “Composizione in 48 cm”, contained in the album “Ulysses”, published in 2012 by Leo Records. Since 2017 has created works in which she combines philosophical and sociological aspects with music. Among these “Strutture.dall’Introspezione all’Interazione”, the album of which will be released in February 2023 by the London label FMR Records. “Strutture.dIaI” also uses a type of unconventional score, and contains within itself a new approach in the field of radical improvisation and conduction, described in the book “New destinations for radical improvisation. Strutture: from Introspection to Interaction” published in March 2024 by “Haze Auditorium Editions”. “Strutture.dIaI” is also a permanent laboratory with decidedly innovative and revolutionary ideas. Participates in the 2023 edition of the "Ahymè Festival" in Parma where she presents the logical concert "Amidà Demày", “Strutture.dIaI” and “On alienation” and in June 2023 she performed with the London Improviser Orchestra and in a short concert tour in England, to-gether with great musicians such as Adam Bohman, Phil Minton, Marcio Mattos, Marliza Gouvea, Adrian Northover and many others.
